Taking Jessica’s portrait was a dream. She is the nightside reporter for the Charlottesville Newsplex and LOVES the camera. Those gorgeous eyes and smile – and not to mention – always knowing how to pose made my job a piece of cake.
This is also the first shoot I have used film in a couple of years. Mary Kalergis (brilliant photographer and mother-in-law whom I owe much of my skill to), let me borrow her Leica. Ten minutes into the shoot, the batteries died and I couldn’t tell for sure if I was exposing correctly b/c the metering wasn’t working. I was so thrilled to get these gorgeous shots back (second set of photos, B&W). It reminded me how much I love film – those subtle variations of tone and detail. Digital is amazing, but still can’t beat good B&W film and a Leica lens.
